A Magistrates’ Court sitting in Badagry, Lagos State, has ordered the remand of a 33-year-old man, Ibrahim Lasisi, at the Badagry Correctional Centre over allegations of involvement in a secret cult group.

The presiding Chief Magistrate, Nurudeen Layeni, declined to take the defendant’s plea and directed that the case file be forwarded to the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice.
The matter was adjourned until 19 February for mention.

Lasisi is standing trial on a three-count charge bordering on alleged membership of an unlawful society, threat to life, and conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Assistant Superintendent of Police Edet Ekpo, informed the court that the alleged offences occurred on 13 December 2025 at No. 20 Jejelaye Street, Ajangbadi area of Lagos.

According to the prosecution, the defendant is accused of being a member of a prohibited group identified as the Aye Confraternity.

Mr Ekpo further alleged that Lasisi acted in a manner capable of disturbing public order by repeatedly harassing the complainant, identified as Serifat Lasisi, and issuing threats to kill her.

The prosecutor stated that the alleged offences contravene Sections 42, 56 and 168 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The court is expected to take further action on the matter once advice is received from the Director of Public Prosecutions.
